Located in the heart of central Sicily, Caltanissetta is in a strategic position to visit places of tourist interest.

If you are in town, it is possible to visit:

Santa Maria la Nova—that is, the city’s cathedral. Built in the 1600s, its facade is flanked by two tall bell towers. Inside, it is decorated with a series of frescoes by the famous Flemish painter Borremans. The archaeological area of Gibil Gabib (or Gibil Habib), is located a short distance from the town center. Within the area, two rock-cut necropolises and remains of indigenous settlements from the 7th century BC are visible. The Archaeological Museum of Caltanissettawhere the artifacts found in the archaeological park of Gibil Gabib and the Enna area are kept.
